Westminster Abbey in London, United Kingdom has a long tradition as venue for royal weddings. On 16 November 2010, Clarence House broadcasted that Prince William, eldest son of the Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) would marry Kate Middleton, his long-time girlfriend, "in the spring or summer of 29th April, 2011, in London." They became engaged in October 2010 while on a private holiday in Kenya. William gave Middleton the engagement ring that his father had given to his (William) mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The Ring is made up of 18 Carat white Gold Ring with large oval sapphire and 14 round diamonds.
Royal Wedding - Bishop Deeply Sorry for Wedding Comments
A Church of England bishop has apologised for "deeply offensive" comments he made over the forthcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Rt. Rev Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden, said he had conveyed his "sincere regrets" to the Prince of Wales and to Prince William and his fiancee Miss Middleton for the "distress" caused by remarks he made about the marriage. In comments posted on Facebook, the bishop warned that the marriage may last only seven years and reportedly referred to the Royal Family as "philanderers". He said in a statement: "I have conveyed to Prince Charles and to Prince William and Kate Middleton my sincere regrets for the distress caused by my remarks and the subsequent media attention about the forthcoming royal wedding.
